IHSS enables consumers to have real choices in selecting, managing and, if necessary, firing their attendants while still having the protection of an agency, that can provide on-call, back-up services.

The program's purpose is to provide medicaid benefits in the home or community for disabled CHILDREN who would otherwise be ineligible for medicaid due to excess parental income and/or resources. Children must be at risk of nursing facility or hospital placement.

HMA are those routine and repetitive activities of daily living which are necessary for health and normal bodily functioning that an individual with disability would carry out if he or she would physically able, or that would be carry out by family members or friends if they were available.

The program is designed for persons with developmental disabilities supported living in home or community.
